SAR Imagery Synspective’s compact Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, StriX, offers a wider swath, lower noise levels, and broader coverage compared to other satellites in its category. Operating at an altitude between 500 km and 561 km, StriX maintains a sun-synchronous orbit—common among Earth observation satellites—allowing for daily revisits to the same location. The satellite transmits microwave signals at a frequency of 9.65 GHz (X-band) toward the Earth’s surface. The reflected signals (backscatter) are then used to generate detailed images that reveal the terrain and structural characteristics of the observed area.
